The Thora Mazhayilum song from Saajan Bakery Since 1962 was launched today on social media and the romantic melody has a beautiful youthful flavour that puts us in mind of first love. With a chorus, the song has an old world feel that seems to be in tune with the film, and is sure to be an earworm. The song is pictured on the budding romance between
Aju Varghese and
Ranjitha Menon.
Thora Mazhayilum is composed by Prashant Pillai and sung beautifully by Vineeth Sreenivasan and Preeti Pillai, with lyrics by Anu Elizabeth Jose. Another song from the movie, titled Once Upon a Time in Ranni, sung by James Thakkara was released last week. Saajan Bakery, directed and co-written by Arun Chandu, together with Aju Varghese and Sachin R Chandran was scheduled for a Vishu release, but was put off because of the lockdown.
Speaking to us earlier, Aju had said that he was ready to screen Saajan Bakery, which is produced by Funtastic Films, as soon as theatres reopen. “I am ready to be the first to take the plunge. Hopefully, it will give others the confidence to do the same,” he says.
Shot in Ranni, the film is a comedy, based on a sibling rivalry between a brother and sister who have inherited a bakery from their father. Aju plays Boban while Lena plays Betsy. Speaking about the film earlier, Lena had said, “Arun Chandu, who has a flair for tongue-in-cheek comedy, uses our sibling dynamics to tell a layered story.” The film also features Ganesh Kumar and Grace Antony.
