Veteran Malayalam actor Nedumudi Venu passed away. He was 73.
Veteran Malayalam actor Nedumudi Venu passed away in a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He was 73. The actor was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Sunday after experiencing uneasiness. He was undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments and passed away on Monday (Oct 11).

Nedumudi Venu had recently recovered from COVID-19. The actor’s sudden demise has left the entertainment industry devastated. M-Town celebs including Jayaram, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas and many others have taken to their social media platforms to mourn the thespian’s passing away.

Venu, began his career in showbiz with theatre and later ventured into movies. Nedumudi Venu debuted in Mollywood in 1978 with ace director G Aravindan's film 'Thambu'. The actor later went on to handle versatile roles. In his career spanning over four decades, Nedumudi Venu has been part of over 500 movies in Malayalam and Tamil languages and has also worked with some of the finest filmmakers including G Aravindan, Bharathan, P Padmarajan, Fazil, Priyadarshan, Blessy, and Lal Jose among others. Some of his popular films include, ‘Poochakkoru Mookkuthi’, ‘His Highness Abdullah’, ‘Margam’, ‘Chamaram’, ‘Oru Minnaminunginte Nurunguvettam’, ‘Thenmavin Kombath’, and ‘Bharatham’, among others.

Nedumudi Venu has also played a pivotal role in the English movie titled ‘Chaurahen’. From protagonist to villain, Nedumudi Venu has played versatile characters in his 40-year long career and has also bagged two National awards, and a Special Jury mention. He has also won half a dozen of state film awards for his performances.

On the work front, Nedumudi Venu’s last outing ‘Aanum Pennum’. The thespian appeared in the ‘Rani’ segment of the anthology. ‘Rani’ was directed by Aashiq Abu and written by Unni R, and it featured Nedumudi Venu and Kaviyoor Ponnamma as an old couple. Kaviyoor Ponnamma played a bedridden wife, while Nedumudi Venu, played her husband who makes a living out of some odd deeds.

On the work front, Nedumudi Venu next will be 'Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham', directed by Priyadarshan.
