The week that was! Mohanlal to Jayasurya, celebs who made headlines in M-Town

A lot of action took place in the Malayalam cinema last week. On the one hand, when Mohanlal made headlines for multiple reasons, including the 20th year of ‘Ravanaprabhu’, Jayasurya too grabbed the attention for the announcement of his project with filmmaker Joshiy.

​Mahesh Narayanan

Filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan, who is best known for his films ‘Take Off’ and ‘C U Soon’ is all set to make his Hindi debut. The filmmaker will be making his directorial debut in Bollywood with the upcoming film 'Phantom Hospital'. The film is inspired by the true incidents in the healthcare sector of India. The team is yet to announce the cast.

​Mohanlal

Mohanlal has been all over the news this week. The actor was lately shooting for ‘Bro Daddy’ and the pictures from the location of the film ruled the internet. Mohanlal’s dashing avatar thrilled his fans. The superstar also was trending across social media platforms as his blockbuster film ‘Ravanaprabhu’ directed by Ranjith clocked 20 years since its release.

​Jayasurya

Jayasurya turned 43 this week. The actor celebrated his birthday and on a special day, the poster of his upcoming film ‘Meri Awaaz Suno’ was released. The poster featured Manju Warrier and Jayasurya. The film is helmed by Prajesh Sen and the filmmaker revealed to Kochi Times that Jayasurya will be playing the role of Sankar, a radio jockey, who has a unique style.

​Joshiy

Filmmaker Joshiy too grabbed headlines as he announced his collaboration with actor Jayasurya! Jayasurya will be headlining Joshiy’s upcoming film and the motion poster was launched this week. Nishad Koya, who has previously scripted films like ‘Ordinary’ and ‘Thoppil Joppan’ will be scripting the film. Venu Kunnappilly of Kavya Films will be backing the project. Jayasurya referred to the film as his ‘dream project’.

​Aashiq Abu

Prithviraj Sukumaran and Aashiq Abu had announced their collaboration last year, for an upcoming film titled, ‘Vaariyamkunnan’. The film is based on the life of Variankunnathu Kunjahammed Haji, a leader of the 1921 Malabar rebellion who was executed by the British regime. The movie stirred up controversies during its announcement and recently both the director and actor decided to call off the film, due to differences with producers.
