A man who kept his promise - Suresh Gopi donates Rs. 2 lakhs to Mimicry Artists Association
Superstar Suresh Gopi’s grand gesture of donating Rs. 2 lakhs to the MimIcry Artists Association has grabbed the headlines for all the right reasons. In 2021, actor Suresh Gopi announced that he will be donating Rs. 2 lakh to the association, for every movie he signs, after learning about the hardships of the mimicry artists. Keeping his promise, Suresh Gopi donated the sum, when he got an advance token for his upcoming film ‘Ottakkomban’.

‘Jana Gana Mana’ hits the big screens
After almost two years, a Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer hit the big screens. Though the actor had a couple of releases in the past years, all of them were direct-to-digital releases. ‘Jana Gana Mana’ released on April 28, marked his first theatrical release in two years. Directed by Dijo Jose Antony of ‘Queen’ fame, ‘Jana Gana Mana’ opened to positive reviews.

'Summer in Bethlehem' part 2 on the way
The 1998 release Malayalam blockbuster film ‘Summer in Bethlehem’ will be getting a second part. Earlier this week, during an event, producer Siyad Koker confirmed that they are planning to make a sequel. Speaking to Kochi Times, the producer shared that Manju Warrier will be a part of the cast and the pre-production works of the film will begin by the end of 2022. Suresh Gopi, Manju Warrier, and Jayaram were the lead actors in ‘Summer in Bethlehem’, however, as of now, only Manju Warrier has come on board for the film. Vidya Sagar, who had composed the music for the 1998 film will be composing for the upcoming too.

Meera Jasmine’s ‘Makal’ in the cinemas
National award-winning actress Meera Jasmine’s comeback movie ‘Makal’ hit the big screens on April 29. Directed by Sathyan Anthikad, ‘Makal’ featured Jayaram, Meera Jasmine, and Devika Sanjay in the lead roles. The family entertainer opened to packed theatres and managed to entertain the audience to a great extent.

‘12th Man’ teaser
Jeethu Joseph and Mohanlal are collaborating once again after the fabled ‘Drishyam’ franchise. The upcoming film is titled ‘12th Man’ and the teaser was launched this week. The teaser hinted at a survival thriller, however, the story or the plot of the film wasn’t revealed in the teaser. The film will be screened directly on a digital platform very soon.

Sexual assault accused Vijay Babu is on the run
This week, the Keralites woke up to the shocking news of a serious sexual assault allegation against Malayalam actor-producer Vijay Babu. Two cases are registered against Vijay Babu for alleged sexual assault of a female actor and disclosing her identity via Facebook. The complainant-survivor posted an account of the ordeal she faced, leaving the society stunned. From intoxicating and raping her while unconscious for over a month, the complainant has made several allegations against Vijay Babu. As per the reports, Vijay Babu is on the run, and the police have issued a lookout notice against him.
