T P Madhavan's son, Bollywood director Raja Krishna Menon, bids farewell as veteran actor laid to rest

Veteran Malayalam actor T P Madhavan, who had acted in over 600 films in a career spanning decades, was given a final farewell at Santhi Kavadam in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday, October 10.

Madhavan died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday, October 9, in Kollam at 85. His children who were estranged from him for more than 30 years graced his funeral, which included Bollywood director Raja Krishna Menon and daughter Devika.

According to On Manorama, Madhavan had abandoned his family when his elder son Raja Krishna Menon was hardly two-and-half years old. However, in his last moments, he is said to have wanted to meet his son, but fate did not allow the same. Madhavan passed away without his wish getting fulfilled.

Madhavan spent the last eight years of his life at the Gandhi Bhavan in Pathanapuram, a care facility run by Somarajan. His relocation to the facility occurred in 2015 after television serial director Prasad Nooranad noticed the actor’s deteriorating health. Madhavan, who had returned from Haridwar at the time, was struggling, prompting Nooranad to request Somarajan’s assistance in offering the veteran actor a place to stay.

Several celebs mourned the loss of the veteran actor who breathed life into several memorable characters. Mohanlal took to his Facebook handle to mourn the demise of TP Madhavan. Mohanlal’s Facebook note read, “T.P. Madhavan, who shone as a character actor for over four decades in more than 600 films, has passed away. Over the years, I had the opportunity to work with him in several films across different eras. Uyarangalil, Sarvakalashala, Moonnam Mura, Ulladakkam, Pingami, Agnidevan, Narasimham, Ayal Kadhayezhuthukayanu, Nadodikattu, Vietnam Colony, Natturajavu, Twenty:20, and many more. He had a father's love and affection towards me. Madhavanettan, who was also the first General Secretary of the actors' association and who won everyone's hearts with his warm smile, I bid farewell with deep sorrow.”
