Mollywood actress Surabhi Laksmi won the best actress award at the 64th National film awards for her role in 'Minnaminungu', a movie directed by Anil Thomas. The award was indeed special for the Malayalam industry as the star is the fifth actress from Mollywood to bag such an honour.
Sharada, Monisha, Shobana and Meera Jasmine were the other actresses who won the National awards for best actress. Director Anil Thomas spotted the talented actress after watching her enthralling performance in ‘Ayalum Njanum Thammil’.
Recollecting the prestigious moment, the actress has penned an emotional note on her social media handle. Surabhi Lakhsmi wrote, “The best loved rewards! 64th National Film Awards. ‘Minnaminungu’, is grateful that director Anil Thomas, had allowed me to do just. Thank you sir, so grateful you picked me!!! Thank you for giving me this wonderful role. This one is for team MINNAMINUNGU.”A post-graduate in Theatre Arts, Surabhi Lakshmi entered showbiz through a popular television soap. The actress shot to fame with her performance in the 2005 release 'Thirakkatha'. She essayed Valarmathi, a help and personal assistant of Malavika (Priyamani) in the movie. The Ranjith directorial was one of the most critically acclaimed movies and the actors received huge acceptance for the respective parts they played. Her performance in 'Ennu Ninte Moideen' also earned her a lot of fame. Surabhi was last seen in ‘Vikruthi’, giving a notable performance.
