The movie, which is based on true incidents, also has a cast featuring Sunny Wayne, Aju Varghese, Manoj K Jayan, Idavela Babu, Kozhikode Haridas and Mammoottykka. Sreenivasan plays the lead role of a 60-year-old moopan of a hamlet in Attappadi.

Further on the movie, director Avira says, “501 Days revolves around the fight of adivasis in Attappadi for land from 1994 to 2018. Several governments promise them land for the sake of votes and then go back on their word. Sreenivasan’s character Maruthu, takes over as moopan after a tribal chief is killed. Through Maruthu’s story, we show their fight which finally moves to him to observing a 501 day-strike in front of the Secretariat for the land they were promised decades ago.”

The team is currently shooting in Attappadi and is set to film a temple festival as part of its portions. A source from the movie’s crew tells us, “Once that is done, we will move to Thiruvananthapuram where there will be at least two weeks of shoot. Both Sunny Wayne and Aju Varghese will join the team during this schedule.”

Aju plays the moopan’s son in the movie while Manoj K Jayan will be seen as a panchayat president. A debutant actress plays the female protagonist.
