Suma Devi wins the best actress award at Dada Saheb Phalke International Film Festival for 'The Secret of Women'

Suma Devi wins the best actress award at the 13th Dada Saheb Phalke International Film Festival held in Delhi, for her performance in 'The Secret of Women' directed by G Prajesh Sen. In the film that tells the life stories of two strong women, and Suma Devi plays the role of Sheela. The jury commented that Suma Devi, with her solid performance excelled the role of a woman living alone in an isle. Interestingly, Suma Devi is playing a full-length character role for the first time in her career spanning almost 15 years as a body double in South Indian cinema.

Suma Devi shared that she is delighted to have won an award for her first lead role. The Thrissur-based actress also added that the award is a motivation for her to be more active in films. Suma Devi has been the assistant of the action choreographer Mafia Sasi for years. The film's director Prajesh Sen commented that Suma Devi's performance in 'The Secret of Women' is effortless and natural.

Prajesh Sen has written and directed the film after his superhit films 'Captain', 'Vellam', and 'Meri Awas Suno'. Niranjana Anoop is the other leading actress in this film. Touted as an emotional thriller, the film also has Aju Varghese, Srikanth Murali, the 'Vellam' actors Mithun Venugopal, Adhish Damodar, and Unni Cheruvathoor play other important roles. Ankit D’Souza, Jithendran, Zakir Manoli, Pooja Mahi play other supporting roles in the film. The cinematography is handled by Lebison Gopi. The story is written by Pradeep Kumar V.V. The film's editing is done by Kannan Mohan. Nitheesh Nateri has written the lyrics for the film, and the songs are composed by Anil Krishna. Joshua V.J has composed the background score and the English song. The singers are Shahbaz Aman and Janaki Eeswar.
