Sudani From Nigeria

, the Malayalam movie that won the National Award for the Best Malayalam cinema (2018) will boycott the award ceremony this year as a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019. The film's director Zakariya Mohammed took it to his social media page to let the world know about the protest.

Sudani From Nigeria had won five awards at the 2018 Kerala State Film Awards, including Best Screenplay, Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value, Best Debut Director, Best Actor, and Best Character Actress. The film also won the award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam at the 2018

National Film Awards

and Savithri Sreedharan received a Special Mention for her performance in the film.
