Srikant Murali releases Madapally United poster on World Children's Day

On World Children’s Day today, actors Srikanth Murali, Vijilesh Karayad, Hareesh Peradi, Rajesh Madhavan and music composer Anand Madhusoodanan shared, on social media, the first look poster of their new film Madappally United, a film “filled with the games, laughs, love and kindness” of kids.

Written and directed by Ajay Govind, Madappally United is a light-hearted entertainer that looks at children’s issues. “The importance of holistic education, especially sports education, ableism, gender dynamics and children’s right to play are woven into the narrative,” says the director.

The film, shot in Madappally town of Vadakara in Kerala features 47 debutant actors, in addition to Srikanth Murali, Savithri Sreedharan, Jayaprakash Kuloor, Vijilesh, Sibi Thomas, and in a special appearance, Hareesh Peradi.

The children featured in Madappally United are all students of the Madappally Government School and were discovered after auditions conducted in their school. The songs are composed by Anand Madhusoodanan, and the film introduces two new singers, Rohit Aneesh and Sonaj Babu.

Speaking about the film, Ajay Govind, says, “Madappally United happened primarily because of the sheer talent that the kids from Madappally Government possessed. The actors were amazed at how quickly they understood the scenes, how well they remembered their lines, and the ease with which they performed in front of the camera. Personally, the film is a collaboration not just between a technical and creative team as is the case usually, but with the entire community.”

Ajay Govind has worked in the Malayalam and Hindi industries, and recently released his Malayalam award-winning short film Jump Cuts. His Malayalam music video, Urmila, released in June, featured Savithri Sreedharan.
