Sreesanth does his own bike stunts for multilingual

Sreesanth has earlier been part of a dance reality show on TV and also a Bollywood film. But the actor-cricketer is now awaiting the release of his first ever Malayalam movie, and is all excited about it.

“Like all first time actors, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I hope the audience accepts my movie too, just like they accepted my game. But I couldn’t have asked for a better launch,” he says . “Team 5 is basically a Malayalam film, also dubbed in Tamil and Telugu. Tamil was a bit tricky for me, but I was OK otherwise.”

Sreesanth plays a youngster named Akhil in the film, who is into bike stunts. “He is a jobless guy who thinks life is all about bike stunts. But he is not the typical rebellious youngster and deeply cares about is his mother and sister. He grew up without a father and so his mother and sister are his world. The mother struggles to bring them up, taking loans etc. So it is more of a family film than a youngsters’ film.” Pearle Maaney plays Sreesanth’s sister in the film, and the brother-sister relationship has a key role in it. Fort Kochi is the backdrop.

So will there be any bike stunts in the film? “Many. I wanted to do them all by myself but they were really risky though they might look easy. I fell quite a few times and the director asked me if I needed a body double. But I said no and managed to do everything by myself. I took things in a sportsman spirit; you learn only if you fall and nothing is impossible if you give it your all. The film is motivational in that sense,” he says. “But I’m guessing the team has all my falls recorded to be let out later! (laughs).”

Meanwhile, Sreesanth is also awaiting his Bollywood movie Aksar 2 in December, where he plays a lawyer. Zarine Khan is the heroine of the film.
