Sithara sings Navarathri songs for each deity
Singer Sithara Krishnakumar celebrated this Navarathri by sharing original song reels through her social media page. Each of the songs that the singer posts every day of the festival is focussed on a different deity. Titled 'Navratri - Saluting The Shakti In You And Me', the entire project, Sithara says, was a spur-of-the-moment decision.
"This time, I didn't have any specific plans for Navarathri, but then I got this idea to do short pieces. I immediately called lyricist Hari Narayanan. He wrote the shlokas with the nine different deities of Navarathri in mind. I only planned this as just songs initially. But when I saw the lyrics, I was inspired and decided to go ahead and make videos for them, too," says the singer.
The first song is about Shailaputri, followed by Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani and the latest was Kalaratri. Sithara has featured in the video and has danced in all these 'avatars'. The dance choreography was done by Biju Dhwani Tharang. Mithun Jayararaj arranged the songs
"While doing this project, I didn't feel like I was doing something that I'd planned very quickly. I felt like I was doing a project that I had planned for a long while and enjoyed the process very much. We have received positive responses. But beyond the responses, my plan was to do a project that I enjoy and create content that I wanted to. Growing up, I have celebrated Navarathri by placing my chelanga or music notebooks for Pooja. We don't have any big celebrations at home. However, we usually start classes for new students around the time of Vijayadashami," she adds.
