The Dirty Picture (TDP) has given a resurrection of sorts to two actors Silk Smitha and Vidya Balan. Even as Vidya gave a sneak peek into the life of yesteryear sex siren Silk Smitha, a different fare awaits Mollywood. Director Antony Eastman, who introduced Silk to Mollywood, is penning her original story to be directed by director Anil. Rumour has it that the makers had approached Richa Gangopadhyay for the role, but the films scriptwriter Kaloor Dennis denies it.
We are yet to finalise on the lead. We have approached a Telugu actress, who is a popular name in Bollywood too, he says, adding, TDP was inspired by Silks life; it was never her real story. Antony, who introduced Silk to the Malayalam film industry, is penning the actress real story for our flick.
Both Dennis and Antony have known Silk, and have had the actress working in their projects. Theyll shed light on the real life of Silk; the film will be closer to her life than TDP, says director Anil, who has worked with Silk in his flick, 'Sakshal Sreeman Chathunni'. The makers are now finalising the films cast. We will make an official announcement shortly, they say.
Silks last call Days before Silk Smitha ended her life, she had given a call to her mentor, Antony Eastman, with a strange wish. She asked me, Why dont you cast me in a film as a homely girl? Her wish took me by surprise. I told her what expectations people have from a Silk Smitha film; but I consoled her saying we would consider her wish, says Antony.
A few days later, Antony got the news of the actress suicide.
