Siju Wilson's Mareechan is an investigative thriller

Siju Wilson’s new film, Mareechan, was announced on Wednesday on social media and the actor explains that without revealing much, he can say it is an investigative thriller. He plays a main character in the film directed by debutant Nikhil Unni. Ashwin Jayakumar plays the lead.

“The shoot starts in Kochi next month,” says the Varane Avashyamund actor. “We will have a camp to rehearse and develop the characters, and establish a rapport with the rest of the actors. I am playing a character with a difference and it is a story oriented around its making. The plot is like a mind game.” The film also features Lena, Renji Panicker, Sabumon. Siju says new project discussions are underway, though there are still restrictions on how shoots can take place. “No other projects are ready for announcement, but I’ve been listening to scripts,” he says.

The Mareechan poster has a black and white shot of Siju’s close-up with a blood red streak down the middle. The DoP is Roopesh Shaji, editing is by Kiran Das and background score by Jishnu Thilak and Ajith Prakash.

A song from the actor’s upcoming Varayan, in which he plays a priest, is set to release on Friday. In an earlier interview, he told us that the film, directed by Jijo Joseph and written by a priest Danny Capuchin, is a fun-filled message film.

Siju was also part of Sabareesh Varma’s recently released Lokam video song, which featured several stars in an anthem of hope in this time of pandemic.
