Siju Wilson: Vasanthi's awards are a result of our team work and struggle

Some moments can be cherished forever. That's what Siju Wilson has to say about the moment he heard his movie's name, Vasanthi, at the Kerala State Film Awards announcement. The video of the actor, who has also produced the movie, watching the award ceremony is now trending online.

"It wasn't a cake walk ever," says Siju Wilson with all the excitement of winning the award. The film has won three awards this year – best film, best screenplay and best supporting actress.

, popularly known as the Rahman brothers shared the two awards and Swasika who played the titular role won the best supporting actress award.

The actor-producer divulges that the team began the shoot of the movie in 2016. "We took a lot of time to make the movie as we went through a lot of struggles to produce it. We completed the shoot of the movie in 2019,"he says

Siju adds that Alphonse Puthren played an important part in the movie's production. "One among the Rahman brothers, Shinos was the editor of Thobama. To begin the shoot of Vasanthi, we spoke to Alphonse and got his remuneration in advance. Thus, we began the shoot of the movie and then I turned producer for the movie. We all worked as a team and everybody has corporation for the making of the film. This recognition is a result of our hard work and it’s our win," he says.
Rahman brothers, Sajas and Shinos, are extremely content about their movie Vasanthi winning the best film award this year. Sajas divulges that the movie is inspired from Indiria Parthasarathy's play Poovai Porthiya Udalgal. "I had translated it and also made a play. Vasanthi evolved from the thoughts I had after that. It is a journey of a woman who travels through lives of many men at different point of her life," he says.
The making style of the movie which has a play as an important aspect, Sajas says, is experimental. "This is our second film. Our first movie was made in 2015. We began this movie with the fund we got from the movie. Later Siju Wilson turned producer for the film. We are really happy about our movie being recognised," he says.
