Sidhique: ‘Makal’ is a film that portrays strong family relationships - Exclusive!

Sathyan Anthikad’s directorial ‘Makal’ is one of the most awaited upcoming films in Malayalam. Featuring Jayaram and Meera Jasmine in the lead roles, the film also marks the latter’s second innings in Malayalam cinema. The film will be hitting the big screens by the end of this month (April 2022) and the movie buffs are eagerly waiting. Veteran actor Sidhique has roped in to play a pivotal character in ‘Makal’.In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Sidhique spills the beans about Sathyan Anthikad’s directorial.
Sidhique confirms that ‘Makal’ will be a complete Sathyan Anthikad film, in all its true sense, “'Makal' is similar to many other Sathyan Anthikad films, in terms of what it offers. We often hear people claiming that their upcoming film will be different from others, but in the case of ‘Makal’, it's a good Sathyan Anthikad film. Sathyettan’s films always capture the beauty of meaningful relationships. ‘Makal’ is a film that portrays strong family relationships.”
Speaking about his role in the film, Sidhique says, “I am playing Meera Jasmine’s brother in the film.” From the teaser and song, it is evident that Meera Jasmine and Jayaram are playing an interfaith married couple, and recalling filming for one of the scenes, Sidhique adds, “On one of the days on the sets, I had a scene with Meera, and while delivering my lines, I had put a hint of dislikeness towards her character, but Sathyettan immediately came and corrected me saying that my character doesn’t hate her’s. His younger sister would have married against his and his family’s approval, but the love a brother has for his little sister never changes. I have always noticed that quality in Sathyettan. I have never seen him express hatred towards any person, nor does the characters he creates imbibe that quality.”

“If you look at Sathyettan's films, you can see that he is someone who would always try to focus on the brighter side of life. He believes in goodness, and how kind people have been to you, and remembers that. Sathyettan's characters too have that goodness in them. 'Makal' is a movie that revolves around strong and rooted bonds in a family," Sidhique adds and concludes the conversation.
