Shyamprasad, Rugmini, compromise case on copyright issue

Shyamprasad had been embroiled in a court case reportedly, filed by VV Rugmini, the wife of writer MP Kumaran. It was Kumaran who translated the Bengali novel Heerak Deepti, to Malayalam, on which Shyamaprasad's Ore Kadal is based on.
Shyamaprasad and KR Meera had jointly worked the script of the film. Late Kumaran's family alleged that the filmmakers had not acquired the copyright of the book, and had adapted the storyline without permission.
Reports say that Rugmini had filed a case and asked for a re-evaluation of the case when the two parties reached a compromise, with Shyamaprasad paying Rs 75000.
