Earlier we had reported that actress Shweta Menon will play the lead in Hashim Marikar’s Kelvi. But in a surprising turn of events, she has walked out of the project for reasons best known to her. Shweta, who is known as the bold face of M-Town, reportedly took the decision after the crew demanded more dates from her. “Yes, I had signed the project, but I am not part of it anymore.
It’s formally over now. Presently, I’m doing only a Tamil project,” said Shweta. The actress was supposed to play the role of a scribe in the movie. When contacted, Hashim, who is busy with the first schedule of the film, said, “I haven’t got any official confirmation regarding the same from the actress.
But I heard that Shweta is currently busy with her US trip and may not be available during the scheduled dates. However, the film doesn’t revolve around Shweta’s character alone; there are 20 other characters and all have equal prominence. We can’t delay the project further. If Shweta opts out, we will consider other actresses for her role.”
Kelvi, a crime thriller that revolves around the lives of a scriptwriter, director and a yesteryear actress, will see Manoj K Jayan, Pia Bajpai, Mumtaj, and Maqbool Salman in pivotal roles.
