Bhavatharini, singer and legendary musician Ilaiyaraaja’s daughter passed away on Thursday, January 25. She was 47. She breathed her last at around 5.20 pm, in Sri Lanka. The National award-winning singer was battling cancer.

Bhavatharini’s untimely demise has left the music industry in shock. Popular singer Shweta Mohan has now penned a heartfelt note, paying tribute to Bhavatharini. In her note, Shweta Mohan also revealed that it was Bhavatharini, who identified the talent in her for the first time.

“Bhavatha was the first judge to my first ever singing competition... she told my mum that I sang well and that I must train in music…” Shweta Mohan recalled in her Instagram post.

Shweta’s note further elaborated on the bond she shared with Bhavatharini. “Her words instilled in me a confidence that I have a talent... she has always been special to me... always sweet and kind… Saddened and shocked to hear that she has departed this world… May her soul rest in peace. Praying for Raja sir and the family to find the strength to bear this loss,” her note further read.

Bhavatharini is survived by her husband and her brothers Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja.
