Show our children what to do & they will follow: Priyanka

Actress Priyanka Nair has a packed schedule this summer, spending most of the time with her son Appu while also doing a bit of a physical transformation for an upcoming Tamil film. “I am working out more than earlier as my role demands a different look,” she says.
She also has horror investigation thriller Karnika coming up in Malayalam. “I haven’t done many horror subjects before. The series with Venkat Prabhu, Live Telecast, was the last horror project for me. I am a big fan of thrillers and horror films,” says Priyanka, who has two projects each in Malayalam and Tamil.
Speaking about spending time with her son, the actress says, “This summer vacation, we did several activities together. I plan my day around his football, badminton sessions and language classes. He is also reading a lot more now, including the Harry Potter series. I was an avid reader. Due to work commitments I’m not able to read as much. Now, we even have a competition going on among us as to who will finish the highest number of books. Kids copy us. Instead of just asking them to do this or that, we should lead by example. Though it’s not always possible, I try to follow this principle.”
The mother-son duo also travels whenever they can. “We go on small treks or short trips whenever my schedule allows it,” she says. Before the summer vacations are over, Priyanka plans to take Appu on another short trip. She adds, “Without my parents to hold the fort when I am busy with work, none of this would be possible for us. So, they are the biggest heroes in our journey.”

I chose the films I acted in and I have no regrets; I just focus on the future
When asked if she felt ignored in the industry despite doing several critically acclaimed films, the actress says, “I won’t say that. I was offered several big movies over the years. I was the one who picked and chose what to do. There was a time when I wasn’t clear on how to choose films. It could also be because I was once very adamant about doing performance-oriented roles only or because I had committed to a project which took longer to get off the ground than the one I was offered, but the commitment was already made.
