Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has been admitted to a drug rehabilitation center in Thodupuzha following his involvement in a recent narcotics case. The case came to light when a woman named Tasleema was arrested for selling M@rijuana at a resort in Alappuzha. During her interrogation, she revealed that she had supplied drugs to several personalities from the Malayalam film industry. Based on her confession, Shine Tom Chacko, actor Srinath Bhasi, and model-actress Soumya were taken into custody for questioning.
Excise officials confirm drug use
Excise officials conducted a detailed 10-hour inquiry with the three individuals on April 28. While no direct links to organized drug trafficking networks were found, it was confirmed that all three had been using narcotics. According to Dinamani, authorities emphasized that their drug use was a matter of concern, even though they were not involved in the distribution or sale of illegal substances.
Shine Tom Chacko sent to rehabilitation center
Given the situation, Shine Tom Chacko was admitted to a drug rehabilitation center with the consent of his family. Officials have stated that he will remain under treatment for a few months, and his progress will be closely monitored throughout the rehabilitation process. This step is seen as part of the excise department’s broader efforts to curb drug abuse in the film industry and encourage recovery for users.
Sreenath Bhasi and Soumya released from investigation
Meanwhile, Sreenath Bhasi and Soumya have been released from the investigation due to lack of criminal involvement. However, authorities have clarified that all three individuals may be summoned again in the future if new information arises related to the ongoing investigation. The excise department remains vigilant and committed to ensuring accountability and rehabilitation in cases involving substance abuse in the entertainment sector.
