Shikha Nair turns AD

Many young Mollywood actresses are wearing the director’s hat, and the latest to join the tribe is actress Shikha Nair, who featured in Theevram. The actress, who debuted in Malayalam through Roopesh Peethambaran’s Dulquer Salmaan-starrer, has turned assistant director for the upcoming film Happy Birthday by debutant Gautam Mohan.
Shikha says, “After getting a taste of filmmaking while shooting for Theevram, I wanted to experiment with all the departments involved.That is why I took up this opportunity to assist Gautam, who has worked with Santhosh Sivan and American filmmaker Jennifer Lynch. Moreover, the film also has some famous technicians like world renowned fashion photographer Errikos Andreou as DOP and styling expert Daniel Franklin, whom I always wanted to work with. Facing the camera has its own set of challenges, but collaborating with a movie’s production in other roles offers a whole new experience. I am quite thrilled and can’t wait for the shoot to start in April.”
After Theevram, the actress went back to Bengaluru to complete her studies. “I have just wrapped up my course in advertising and digital marketing and am back in Kochi. I felt this is the right time to pursue my interests and decided to join the team of Happy Birthday.”
