Sheelu Abraham has a challenging role as the lead in upcoming psycho thriller, Star, directed by Domin D'Silva. The film has Joju George playing her husband and the male lead, with Prithviraj in an important guest role, that brings the resolution and the message at the end of the film.
Without divulging too many details, Sheelu says, “Star has elements of horror, while being a family drama.
The story progresses through my character, named Ardhra, and ends with a socially relevant message that aims to debunk myths. In one half, Ardhra had the traditional look that I am most comfortable with, but as an artiste, I have done and am comfortable with experimenting with my appearance, which I have done in the film.”
Sheelu is teaming up with Joju and Prithviraj for the first time and she says that both were very helpful and made for great co-stars. “Joju chettan is a very natural actor and gets even minute expressions perfectly. When we did a rehearsal before the shoot, he guided me about what worked well when I was emoting. We had a good vibe. I have been fortunate enough to work with all the big male stars, and it was good to add Prithviraj to the list finally. He was very friendly on sets and an encouraging presence,” she notes.
Sheelu says she feels that she has a good rapport with writer-director Domin, who previously made Pyppin Chuvattile Pranayam. “He said that my physique and appearance matched that of Ardhra and even when he came for the narration, we hit it off; that continued through the shoot,” she notes. The film was shot at an illam and its surroundings in Chottanikkara and Pookkattupadi. The script is by Suvin Somashekaran, and Tharun Bhaskar is the DoP.
Sheelu has another interesting tidbit to share. This year, for only the second time ever, her birthday is on
Onam day. “So we are having a special celebration with family and friends. There will be some games and it will be fun to have the sadya as a big bunch,” she says, happily.
