Shanker Ramakrishnan lauds ‘Gehraiyaan’; praises Deepika Padukone’s brilliance

Malayalam script writer-actor-filmmaker Shanker Ramakrishnan seems to have been spellbound watching the latest Bollywood release ‘Gehraiyaan’. The ‘Urumi’ scenarist took to his social media handle to share his review. Starring Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Ananya Panday, 'Gehraiyaan’ is helmed by Shakun Batra.
Shanker Ramakrishnan began the note, lauding Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapoor, who played pivotal roles in the film.The Malayalam filmmaker also added that Naseeruddin Shah reminds him of veteran Malayalam actor late Nedumudi Venu.
“Watch Gehraiyaan for these two Gems.. the first one is cool as blue ocean( this man reminds me of our beloved beloved Nedumudi Venu Chetan at his best) , and the second one sharp as a razors edge. The real performances in the designer drama,” Shanker Ramakrishnan said, in the note.
He further added that he was fascinated by Deepika Padukone’s brilliance. “Among the careful choreography of emotions and actions there are brilliance’s of Deepika trying out to be flawlessly flawed, aided well by the pop in message boxes and the uncomfortable bumps in the screenplay. A shaken second half shines well with a fabulous Naseeruddin Shah and robust Rajat Kapoor, who left us wondering in the first half why they are part of this film. Congrats Team Shakun Batra for attempting the much unexpected depths. The Music is a haunting high👍🏼. Watch it for the troubled inner child.
