Shakeela accuses AMMA of damaging her career: "What mistake did I make?"

Actress Shakeela has recently made shocking claims about her film career being damaged by the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Shakeela revealed that she learned from a now-deceased actor that AMMA was instrumental in sabotaging her career by banning her films and preventing them from passing censorship.

Shakeela expressed her frustration over the lack of support and fairness she faced, particularly questioning the justice system for young actresses who suffer assault. Reflecting on the situation in 2000, she highlighted that AMMA's actions were influenced by the actor's power, contributing to her professional downfall.


Talking to News 18, Shakeela defended her career, stating, "What wrong did I do? I acted in films, revived theaters that had turned into marriage halls, and helped the government earn taxes from my work. What mistake did I make?"

The actress also criticized the patriarchal nature of the Kerala film industry, arguing that it has difficulty accepting success from outsiders. She pointed out that if an actress from another state achieved greater success than local productions, she would face resistance and bias.

Shakeela reflected on her past struggles, noting that despite raising these issues in 2000, she received no support. Her sense of betrayal was so profound that she declared she no longer wished to act in films. Emphasizing that her statements are driven by a sense of injustice rather than resentment, Shakeela concluded, "Kerala is where I gained my name and fame, and I have no issues with the people there. My concern is with the injustice I faced, such as not having my films shown in theaters or approved for censorship."

Meanwhile, recently the actress Radhika Sarathkumar has come forward with strong accusations that there are hidden cameras on Malayalam film sets where they record videos of actresses.
