A unique amalgamation of reality and fantasy,
Shaji N Karun's 'Olu' had earned late MJ Radhakrishnan a National award for best cinematography. Shane Nigam plays a painter in the film and Esther essays the character of Maya, who is raped by a group of men and thrown in the backwaters of Kerala. The pregnant girl is submerged in the remains of a Buddhist monastery and lives for 10 full moons.
She can see the world only during a full moon. The movie showcases the platonic love between the Rajasthani girl and the painter as she asks the young artist to draw her dream!
‘Olu’ is bankrolled by AV Anoop, the music is handled by Issac Thomas Kottukappally, M J Radhakrishnan cranked the lens and Sreekar Prasad handled the film’s edits.
