Shahad: ‘Anuragam’ is all about love - EXCLUSIVE

‘Prakashan Parakkatte’ director Shahad has announced his next titled ‘Anuragam’, and it is all things love. The title announcement was made earlier this month and it grabbed eyeballs for its interesting cast, including veteran Sheela. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Shahad spills the beans about ‘Anuragam’.

‘Anuragam’ has Aswin Jose, Gouri G Kishan, Sheela, Devayani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Lena, and Johny Antony in lead roles. The director tells us that, as the title suggests, the film is all about love, “Love has no age limit. It can happen to anyone, anytime. All that matters is the moments that happen in between. ‘Anuragam’ is based on the universal truth that love is beyond everything. Set in Ernakulam, ‘Anuragam’ travels through the lives of three families. It’s a rom-com family drama," he explains.

The upcoming film has an ensemble cast and legendary actress Sheela’s presence is undoubtedly one of the USPs of the film. Talking about the actress, the director tells, “Sheelamma came onboard because she loved the story. It’s been a while since we saw her on the big screen. It was fun to work with her! It was indeed very generous of someone like her to work with us newbies. She plays Johny Antony’s mother in the film. She is a naadan ammachi, who comes to live in Kochi with her son.”

‘Anuragam’ also marks Devayani’s re-entry into M-Town, after almost a decade. “She was convinced by the story. Johny Antony and Devayani play a couple in the film,” the Shahad adds.

Shot majorly in Kochi, the film is scripted by Aswin Jose, who is also the lead actor. Shahad tells us that ‘Anuragam’ was supposed to be his debut film, however, the project got delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, “We have wrapped up the shoot a while ago and I am eagerly waiting for the release," the director signs off with a smile.
