Senna Hegde's directorial crime comedy '1744 White Alto' has been selected to be premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2023, which is slated to be held in January. The Malayalam film has actors Sharafudeen, Vincy, Rajesh Madhavan, and
Anand Manmadhan in the lead roles.
1744 White Alto was released in theatres in Kerala on 18th November 2022, and it received positive reviews from both cinephiles and critics.
“This film may not be for everyone, each viewer will come out with a different takeaway. It is not cerebral; it is meant to be entertaining and provide a view into the paradox that is the human psyche. Every character can be good and bad at the same time and morality is a sliding scale most of the time. This is especially true in the modern day, and I tried communicating this in my way," Senna Hegde said in a statement.
The story is centred around two small-time crooks who get into a series of troubles, some funny, some frightening and some thought-provoking. As the title suggests, a Suzuki Alto car is in the middle of the happenings. It is set in a fictional location somewhere in Kerala, with landscapes which remind the viewer of the wild west, characters carefully constructed to accentuate social hypocrisies and an audio-visual treatment that is truly unique.
