Scriptwriter files sexual abuse complaint against Malayalam director VK Prakash

A female scriptwriter has filed a complaint with the Director General of Police (DGP) accusing Malayalam actor-director VK Prakash of sexual abuse.


According to On Manorama, the script writer who chose to remain anonymous alleged that VKP assaulted her after inviting her to his hotel room in Kollam on April 4, 2022. She claimed that VK Prakash made unwanted advances, including attempting to kiss her and push her onto the bed, during a supposed discussion about a film project.

According to the scriptwriter, after sending the director a synopsis of her story, he contacted her via WhatsApp and invited her to Kollam, despite her initial reluctance to travel. Upon her arrival, VK Prakash had arranged two rooms at a hotel. That evening, he visited her room, asked her to narrate the story, and offered her alcohol. The woman stated that Prakash then pressured her to act out an intimate scene, touched her inappropriately, and tried to kiss her.

The woman reported that when VK Prakash realized she was not interested, he left her room, prompting her to return to Kochi that night. Following her return, the ‘Paalum Pazhavum’ director called to apologize and offered compensation, which she declined. Subsequently, he sent her Rs 10,000 through his assistant, asking her to stay silent about the incident. Since then, she claimed, VK Prakash has not contacted her.

The woman decided to file the complaint after witnessing others in the Malayalam film industry speaking out about their experiences of abuse. She expressed that she felt compelled to come forward, hoping that action would be taken on her complaint. "I left the industry due to that incident, but now feel confident that action will be taken on my complaint," she said.

On the work front, VK Prakash’s recent outing was with the Meera Jasmine starrer ‘Paalum Pazhavum’.
