The veteran screenwriter John Paul who gave birth to various iconic Malayalam movies by unveiling his magical talent for screenwriting passed away on Saturday (23- April- 2022). He was 72. He was undergoing treatment for health-related issues and was admitted to a private hospital in Kochi. As per the reports, the veteran writer was switching between different hospitals for treatment regarding breathing difficulties for about two months.

Previously the Kerala Government allotted funds for the medical treatment of John Paul which amounted up to 2 lakh Rs.
There were also funds pouring in from his ardent admirers for the treatment of the veteran screenwriter.

John Paul has given birth to several Malayalam movies and his writing prowess in building memorable characters and an engaging screenplay without losing the emotional core got much recognition and adulation from the audience. His most notable works include ‘Chamaram’, ‘Marmaram’, ‘Vida Parayum Munpe’, ‘Kathayariyathe’, ‘Ormakkayi’, ‘Asthram’, ‘Kathodu Kathoram’, ‘Yathra’, ‘Purappadu’, ‘Orukkam’, ‘Randam Varavu’, ‘Chamayam’, ‘Aksharam’, ‘Kattathe Kilikkoodu’ and ‘Vellathooval’.
Before getting into the film industry, John Paul worked in Canara Bank, and later he resigned and joined movies. John Paul is also the founder of the association of film technicians named MACTA. John Paul has also bankrolled several films and the prominent one being the MT Vasudevan Nair directorial film ‘Oru Cherupunchiri’. He was also active in several film societies and in freelance journalism.
John Paul has also acted in several films such as the
Mammootty starrer ‘Gangster’, and the Manju Warrier- Shane Nigam film ‘C/0 Saira Banu’.
