SC extends Siddique’s interim anticipatory bail in alleged rape case for another week

Supreme Court has extended the interim anticipatory bail which was granted to the actor Siddique who is accused in an alleged rape case.

According to On Manorama, Siddique’s bail has been now extended to one more week and in a brief hearing Justices BM Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma adjourned the proceedings.

Reportedly the ‘Nunakkuzhi’ actor has submitted the affidavit on Monday, November 11, denying the charges filed against him by the investigation team.


Claiming that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is fabricating stories to trap him, Siddique’s defence has put forward several points arguing that the Kerala police is fabricating allegations that the complainant never mentioned in the case report. Siddique also alleges that the police are conducting media trial against him.


On the other hand, the Government lawyer will give a counter argue claiming that Siddique should not be granted bail as there is evidence against him.


It was on September 30, the Supreme Court granted anticipatory bail to Siddique, preventing any further arrest. SIT had investigated Siddique twice on October 7 and 12 and also alleged that the actor was not cooperative, refusing to share necessary documents.


For the unversed, Siddique has been charged under sections 506 and 376 that stands for criminal intimidation and rape respectively. The case was charged by the Museum police in Thiruvananthapuram in August under a complaint filed by a young actress alleging that Siddique had sexually assaulted her at Mascot hotel during the year 2016.


On the work front, Siddique will be next seen in the action thriller film ‘Marco’ directed by Haneef Adeni.
