Sasha Sridevi’s tryst with Mollywood

Upcoming film EMSum Penkuttiyum will see the debut of an actress who has so far been sharpening her skills in theatre — that too, abroad!
Sasha Sridevi Kumar, the young Malayali actress from Las Vegas in US, will be seen sharing screen space in the film with actors like Narain and Lal. “Sasha has been active in theatre for more than four years. Actor Thampy Antony, who is also doing a role in the film, recommended her to the film,” says the director of the film, Rafeeq Ravuthar.Sasha enacts the role of a Srilankan Tamil immigrant in the UK, who dreams of returning to her homeland, though her boyfriend is against the move. “The film as a whole is the tale of such immigrants who are scattered all over the world,” adds Ravuthar.
Sasha’s father Ganesh Kumar has acted alongside Kabir Bedi in the past, in an Italian movie. Recalling her first stint before the film camera, Sasha says, “Performing in front of 100 people on the set was quite new for me, though I am used to acting in plays. However, my co-star Narain and the whole crew were quite supportive and we had a lot of fun shooting in places like Sri Lanka and London.” Acting in a film, she says, is an experience that has turned exciting over time.
