After stepping into Sandalwood in style as Sivarajkumar’s heroine, M-Town actress SanushaSanthosh is determined to lend her own voice for her debut role. The State Award winner, who is shooting for the period film Kabira directed by NarendraBabu, is excited that the makers decided to use her voice for her character. Sanusha says, “I was not familiar with Kannada at all before I joined this film.
During the shooting, everyone on the set was speaking in Kannada, and I also started using a few words that I picked up for fun. The very first word I learnt is bheda, which is very similar to venda, the Malayalam word for ‘no’. Gradually I picked up a few common one liners to ask water and other things I need. From the spot boys to the lead actors, everyone encouraged me. Now, I have been asked to dub for the movie! I am quite happy that the industry is so encouraging.”
Interestingly, the actress is not taking any formal lessons in the language to prepare for dubbing. “I guess getting exposed to a Kannada atmosphere is the best way to learn the language, and all on the set are my tutors now,” she says, laughing.
Sanusha is also awestruck by the warmth of superstar Sivarajkumar, the film’s hero. She narrates an incident, “I had my exam on April 29, and the day before, we were shooting the film’s climax sequences. When the crew decided to finish the hero’s portions first, Sivarajkumar sir intervened saying my portions should be wrapped up first, as I have an exam to attend the next day. His portions were shot later. I felt lucky to work with an actor who is immensely supportive of a debutant co-actor.”
Sanusha’s next release in Malayalam is
Nirnayakam starring Asif Ali, directed by VK Prakash.
