After playing a Naxalite in National Award-winning director
Rajesh Touchriver’s Telugu movie Raktham, Sanju Sivram now seems to be creating a niche for himself in Tollywood. He will be next seen playing a police officer in Rajesh’s Patnagarh, a bilingual film made in Telugu and Odiya.
The film is based on a real-life incident, the Patnagarh parcel bomb case, which claimed the lives of a newly-married man and his relative in Odisha.
On his character, Sanju says, “My character Shekhar is part of the investigation team led by
Atul Kulkarni, who enacts Crime Branch IG Arun Bothra. The team investigates the wedding gift blast incident.”
Patnagrah bombing is a sensational case that happened in Odisha’s Patnagarh in which a 26-year-old newly-wed software engineer Soumyasekhar and his great-aunt were killed by a parcel bomb which was sent as a wedding gift. Soumya’s wife Reema was seriously injured in the incident. After months of investigation, police arrested a colleague of Soumya’s mother whom she had replaced at the college where she taught. “The film also has popular Ollywood actor Manoj Mishra playing an important role,” Sanju says.
