Sandeep Reddy Vanga responds to Parvathy Thiruvothu’s criticism on ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Kabir Singh’
Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently responded to Parvathy Thiruvothu's comments against his films ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Kabir Singh’. The ‘Animal’ director expressed that if an actor misunderstands films, there is no hope for audiences.
In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sandeep Reddy Vanga stated that people don’t understand what glorification means, as most of them expect a lecture from the hero in the climax, where he admits to all his mistakes. “They expect the hero to die a dog’s death. Forget regular people, even actors don’t understand this” he remarked.
Soon, Sandeep Reddy Vanga took a dig at Parvathy Thiruvothu and expressed that if an actor like Parvathy feels that the Hollywood film ‘Joker’ doesn’t glorify violence, but ‘Kabir Singh’ does, then there is no hope from the general public. “There was one Malayalam actor, Parvathy Thirovothu I think her name was. She said in an interview that Joker didn’t glorify killing. When Joker dances on the stairs while a song plays, she didn’t think that was glorification. I was shocked,” he said.
The ‘Animal’ director also stated that Parvathy Thiruvothu is a very good actor.
For the unversed, in 2019, Parvathy Thiruvothu criticized the glorification of violence in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s films. During a roundtable interview with Film Companion, Parvathy expressed that ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Kabir Singh’ had a visual grammar of glorification, however, ‘Joker’ didn’t.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s recent outing ‘Animal’ featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role too attracted criticism for its ‘alpha male’ expressions, however, the film managed to become a blockbuster and grossed over Rs 900 crore globally. 'Animal' also had Rashmika Mandana playing the leading lady. Actors Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and, Triptii Dimri were also part of the cast.
