Salim Kumar hospitalised after health complications; Actor put on ventilator support - Reports
National Award-winning actor Salim Kumar has reportedly been admitted to a private hospital after experiencing health complications.
As reported by ANI, the hospital authorities stated that the actor is currently receiving treatment and is on ventilator support. Further details regarding his health condition are expected to be shared later. Recent reports also stated that the actor remains under close medical observation.
He began his film journey in the late 1990s and later created a strong identity through comedy and character-driven roles.
One of the biggest moments in his career came with 'Adaminte Makan Abu', which earned him the National Film Award for Best Actor.
Apart from acting, Salim Kumar also explored filmmaking and writing. His directorial venture 'Karutha Joothan' received recognition and later won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Story. He also earned the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actor for 'Achanurangatha Veedu'.
Despite health challenges in recent years, the actor continued appearing in films. His recent screen outings included projects such as Dileep's 'Bha Bha Ba' and 'Koodothram'.
Earlier, he was also seen in Malayalee from India and Kallanum Bhagavathiyum. Fans continued appreciating his presence on screen, regardless of the role size.
As reported by Manorama Online, speaking during the event, he said, "Name one good comedy film that happened recently. I will definitely say that the answer is no. There were numerous good comedy films back in the day, now the industry lacks good comedy films that really make you laugh."
While discussing recent films including Premalu and Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, he added, "It’s been long since I watched a good comedy movie and laughed. There may be several counter-arguments to this, but I stand on my opinion that these new movies are just rehashing old comedies."
