Filmmaker Salam Bappu will make his debut in Kannada as a scriptwriter with the film titled
On what led to the filmmaker’s Kannada project, Salam tells us, “A friend who got to know that I was scripting my film with Shane Nigam, asked me if I could write for his debut directorial in Malayalam too. So, I went to Dubai to meet the producer on March 8 and after that I got stuck in the lockdown there.”
During his three-month stay in Dubai, Salam says he met a producer who said he knew Kannada filmmaker Nagashekhar, who is helming the Bhavana-starrer. “After I returned to Kerala, he called me again and asked if I could write the script for the movie based on their story. I agreed and everything fell into place soon. We started shooting on Monday in Mysore,” he says.
In a social media post he shared a few days ago, Salam wrote, “After an interval, my new film is going on floors. It’s a new role, new language and new industry… I hope all your prayers are with me.” The Kannada movie is directed by Nagashekhar and has Bhavana playing the role of a lawyer.
Meanwhile, Salam, who had earlier directed Mohanlal’s Red Wine and Mammootty’s Manglish, is set to team up with Shane Nigam for a feel-good movie, which will go on floors in November. The film, which is also scripted by him, will be shot extensively in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
