Sakthan Market is all things Thrissur

The recently released film

, which story, script and direction by Jeeva, is shot in and around Thrissur.

Told in the backdrop of the district’s temples, churches, local spots and more, the film also features pulikali and the pooram.

, who explains that the film is also the story of Sakthan Market workers. “Shivaji Guruvayoor’s character Abdukka is someone who exemplifies a true-blue Thrissur man,” Venu says, expressing gratitude for the cooperation the market workers displayed during the film’s shoot.

Alongside renowned actors like Sudheer Karamana, Sreejith Ravi, Shivaji Guruvayor and Sunil Sughada, the movie also introduces about 50 new faces. Akhil Prabhakar, Lushikumar, Shivani, Nayana, Kanakalatha, Sulshiya, Shreyani, Jasmin, Honey, V M S Perumannooor, Saravanan Hari, Ashraf Pilakkal, Simon Paavartti, Razak Guruvayoor, Bijukuttan, Nandakishor, Kutti Pradeep and Sudheer Alencherry are a few.

Venu also introduces his son Amal Dev as an actor through the film. Amal, a PG student of St Thomas College and a university-level cricket player, essays a character named Melvin. “He represents a selfish attitude of some of today’s youngsters, who have all kinds of vices. The audience loved Amal’s performance and it is getting much appreciated. I am proud of it both as a producer and a father,” Venu says.
