Saiju Kurup celebrates 2 years of his film ‘Janamaithri’; calls it a ‘milestone’

Saiju Kurup is one of the seasoned actors in Malayalam cinema. The actor has now reminisced about his film ‘Janamaithri’ as it clocked two years of its release this week. The slapstick comedy was directed by John Manthrickal, and it features Indrans, Saiju Kurup, Vijay Babu, and Sabumon Abdusamad in the leading roles. Although the movie didn’t work well in the theatres it gained popularity after its release on OTT platforms.Saiju Kurup has referred to the film as a ‘milestone’ in his career.
“A milestone movie in my career JANAMAITHRI (released 2 years back on July 19th) directed by John Manthrickal @johnmanthrickal, written by John Manthrickal and James Sebastian @james.sebastian.779 and produced by our Friday Films @actor_vijaybabu, specially thanking Midhun Manuel Thomas @midhun_manuel_thomas for introducing two talents John and James to the industry. Though the movie didn’t had a good run at the theatres…we are overwhelmed by the number of views our movie got in Asianet and Amazon Prime…long way to go John and James (sic),” Saiju Kurup penned in his note.

Sajiu Kurup ventured into movies with 2005 Hariharan’s directorial ‘Mayookham’ and romanced Mamta Mohandas in the film. Saiju Kurup has completed 16 years in cinema now and he has been focusing on performance-oriented roles lately. His recent performances in movies like ‘C U Soon’, ‘Android Kunjappan ver 5.25’, ‘Driving License’, and ‘Forensic’ received a lot of praise.
