The lockdown has opened up the schedules of many including celebs to finish stuff they had kept pending. Singer-TV anchor-actress Rimi Tomy, who is at her house in Ernakulam, tells us about her quarantine days at home, new projects and interests.
New recipes, new moviesFor Rimi, who used to keep herself occupied with travel, stage and TV shows or music events year after year, “the initial weeks of lockdown were the toughest”. “I finally made up my mind to explore everything I could to eliminate boredom. For instance, lately I came across a recipe of celebrity chef Lekshmi Nair on YouTube to make cherupayar dosa. Being someone who follows a healthy diet, I tried it and since then, I have tried my hand at other healthy recipes too.”
I mostly love romantic films and have seen PS I Love You, Notebook, Lion King and also Contagion. I also saw Big Brother, Dulquer Salmaan’s Tamil venture Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal and am binging on Shah Rukh Khan films.
Getting fit and staying on top of thingsShe also continues her fitness regime at home with the help of her personal trainer Harsha. “Through our phone conversations, she has suggested several alternative workouts to try at home,” says the singer.
In addition to watching films, she has also started her own YouTube channel. “I will update my cover songs, travelogues and other activities on the channel,” she says.
Offering a helping hand to fellow artistesIncidentally, as the lockdown meant that several stage shows were cancelled, Rimi also provided financial help to several fellow artistes. “Lockdown has affected a good portion of our artistes who earn through seasonal stage shows. It would be good if we help them,” she explains.
Her biggest takeaway from the lockdown is that she has “found that there is unity among all and everyone cares for each other”. “There is no elite or middle class, or big or small; everyone is the same and praying for the complete recovery of the world amid this pandemic,” says Rimi
Renewed Rimi after the lockdownOn her plans after the lockdown is lifted, she says, “I wish to work on a music album which is visually rich with beautiful songs and also make my channel more active. I have a sung in a few films, including the Kunchacko Boban-starrer Mohan Kumar Fans.”
