Actress Rima Kallingal recently released a documentary, titled ‘The Loom – A Story of Revival,’ through her social media page. It is about how the weavers in

Cherai

, Kochi, survived a flood, to retrieve their livelihood and along with it, gave the art of hand-weaving-the-handloom a new breath of life.

Sharing the video, Rima wrote on her page, ‘As we survive a pandemic together, this is the perfect time to share an inspiring story of revival by the dexterous weavers of Cherai, and how they embraced a challenging change by bringing in a modern sensibility to their invaluable, age-old skill.

Here is a great story of resilience, that will remind us all about our ability to bounce back from these testing times.’

The documentary’s DOP is Amal Wilson. It has editing by Bhvya Prathewsh and it is produced by ‘The Stories Untold and Image Factory.’
