Resul Pookutty announces his directorial debut; Asif Ali to headline the film

After making the audience enter the magical world of sound and music, the Academy Award-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty will be seen donning the director’s cap for the first time with the film ‘Otta’. As per the reports, the young and talented actors Asil Ali and Arjun Ashokan will be playing the lead roles in the ace technician’s directorial debut film.Resul Pookutty took to his official Instagram handle to announce the news. His Instagram post read, “Ok guys, today evening is going to be a big evening for me and my loved ones! We are launching our first production and more exciting things to follow… Be there! #ChildrenReunitedLLP #ResulPookuttyProductions #OttaTheMovie.”Resul Pookutty hasn't officially announced the plot and cast details of the film yet. The film is bankrolled by Children Reunited LLP and Resul Pookutty’s own production house. The makers have already shot a teaser for the film ‘Otta’ which will be unveiled during the grand announcement function that will be held on April 13. Previously Resul Pookutty has also made his acting debut with the documentary film ‘The Sound Story’, where he played the role of an Oscar-winning sound designer (Resul Pookutty himself) who comes to Thrissur to fulfill his dream of live recording Thrissur Pooram (A festival). The story progresses as he faces challenges while making his dream come true. The film was directed by Resul Pookutty himself along with the director Prasad Prabhakar.According to the sources, Resul Pookutty was initially planning to make his directorial debut with a Bollywood film titled ‘Sarpakal’ where the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was supposed to play a major role. On the work front, Resul Pookutty is roped in as the sound designer for the upcoming Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer film ‘Aadu Jeevitham’ directed by Blessy based on the famous novel written by Benyamin.
