The Malayalam film industry mourns the loss of one of its most illustrious directors, Sangeeth Sivan, who breathed his last on this day (May 8)in Mumbai.

Sangeeth Sivan made significant contributions to both the Malayalam and Hindi film industries.

Born into a family deeply immersed in the world of cinema, Sangeeth Sivan was the eldest son of filmmaker Sivan, with brothers Santosh Sivan and Sanjeev Sivan also making their mark in the industry. Sivan's directorial journey began with the Malayalam film ‘Vyooham,’ which garnered attention for its innovative storytelling.

However, it was his 1992 masterpiece ‘Yodha’ that soared Sangeeth Sivan to widespread acclaim, firmly establishing him as a leading director in Malayalam cinema.

His collaborations with legendary actor Mohanlal in iconic films like’Nirnayam’, ‘Yodha,’ and ‘Gandharvam,’ garnered a cult following.

Venturing into Bollywood, Sangeeth Sivan directed his first Hindi film, ‘Zor,’ featuring Sunny Deol.

Sangeeth Sivan continued to explore his creative vision, helming projects like Jackie Shroff's ‘Sandhya’ and Pantaloon's ‘Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne.’ His films were celebrated for their distinct narrative style and compelling storytelling, earning him a dedicated fan base.

His previous directorial outing was with the TV series ‘Bhram’.
