Mollywood actor Asif Ali has given a small hint that 2025 will also be his golden year, with the success of his year-opening movie ‘Rekhachithram’. Recent reports say that the investigative thriller has collected Rs 18.6 crore worldwide.
According to the Sacnilk website, the Asif Ali starrer has collected Rs 11.36 crore India Net collections in 4 days and the India Gross collections stand at Rs 8.6 crore. The overseas collection figures for Jofin T Chacko’s directorial amount to Rs 10 crore.
As reported by the website, ‘Rekhachithram’ has made a high of Rs 3.96 crore on day 4. Reportedly, the film opened with Rs 1.9 crore at the box office which was followed by Rs 2.2 crore, and Rs 3.3 crore. And Rs 3.96 crore on days 2,3, and 4.
Directed by Jofin T Chacko, who made his debut directorial with Mammootty’s film ‘Priest’, ‘Rekhachithram’ is getting much adulation from the audience due to stunning performances and also the gripping script.
Apart from Asif Ali, ‘Rekhachithram’ also features the actors Anaswara Rajan, Siddique, Manoj K Jayan, Jagadish, Harisree Ashokan, and Indrans in pivotal roles.
Excited to watch ‘Rekhachithram? ETimes gave it a rating of 3.5 out of 5 and our review reads, “The second half is where the film takes the audience on a nostalgic ride. There is plenty of creative liberty taken by the writer, bringing in Kaathodu Kathoram elements into the film, creating an alternate history in a sense. As much as seeing a young Mammootty on screen is appreciated, a little less fanboyism would have helped to stick to the levity of the plot. The recreation of the sets in the 80s was done well. Interlinking the story with instances from old films has worked, too. At least it didn't feel out of place. Ramu Sunil, who is also the writer, and John Manthrickal have made a screenplay that's engaging and subtle enough. However, the dialogues were a little off in some places. It is very rare for a Malayalam film to explore problematic relationships where people mutually equip each other's toxicity, even if it's just touched upon.”
