When contacted, the film’s director Syam Praveen said, “I heard about the court order, but I have not been officially contacted by anyone regarding the issue. Even before, many people, including women’s associations, had contacted me asking to change the title. I refused, as these speculations are based on the film’s name alone, which is just a common and harmless usage by village lads when their love life fails or if they are upset with women.”
Apparently, a few posters had also appeared in various parts of the state against screening the movie in local theatres. However, the director asserts that Otta Oruthiyum Sheriyalla does not degrade women folk in any manner. The film’s male lead Praveen, who plays a taxi driver named Mathew aka Manuel, also said that the film is a novel attempt with a good message.
