The celebrity cricket season is nearing, and the cricketers among the stars have started on their practice sessions. At the forefront is Rajeev Pillai, one of the star players of the previous years. “The team hasn’t been formed yet, but cricket is my passion. I practise regardless of the matches,” he says. Team practice will start only towards mid-January, and until then, the actors will be practising individually, he added.
Rajeev was out of town for a while, shooting for his Bollywood project, Guru Dakshina, which is set to release soon.
“It is not a pucca commercial film, but will see a mainstream theatre release.” The actor is in talks for a Tamil film too but hasn’t sealed the deal yet, nor committed any other Malayalam films. “We arrange our schedules in such a way that we will have some free time during the cricket season,” says Rajeev.
Meanwhile, Rajeev confirmed that he will be attending the wedding reception of Indian cricketer Sreesanth on December 12 at Kochi, as the latter has been like a mentor to him. “I am not in constant touch with him or the family but my relationship with Sreesanth hasn’t changed because of the arrest, I will be attending the reception,” he confirms.
Rajeev was under the scanner for a while when it was revealed that he was with Sreesanth during the time of his arrest, but he was cleared soon after, and apparently there is no bad blood between the two.
