Rahman to play a police officer in a suspense crime thriller

actor Rahman

will be seen in a cop avatar on screen in Malayalam.

In the upcoming film Ethire, directed by newbie filmmaker Amal K Joby, the actor will be seen as a no nonsence police officer who is holding an unofficial investigation. The movie, scripted by Sethu, will go on floors on May 10 in Kerala.

Amal, who has previously co-scripted the Anoop Menon film Banking Hours 10 to 4, tells us, "The film is a suspense crime thriller and we will be shooting around Pala, Erattupetta and

Ettumanoor

in Kottayam district, for the same. Rahman's character is that of DySP Azar Mohammed, who is not your regular cop. However, he is serious and can be termed a tad arrogant, and he is holding an unofficial investigation. He won't be seen in his cop uniforms."

The film also has Nyla Usha, Gokul Suresh and Vijay Nelliz in major roles. Amal reveals that Nyla plays the character of a forensic officer in the film. "Her name is Vyshnavi, and she is kind of a fashion freak, who is quite stylish and beauty conscious," explains the director. The film has music by debutant Kedar, who has previously assisted those like A R Rahman.
