Rachana Narayanankutty will play a newly-wed in Double Barrel

There is a surprise element to each character in Lijo Jose Pellissery’s next film Double Barrel aka Eratta Kuzhal. Actress Rachana Narayanankutty, who is a part of the ensemble cast, will play a newly-wed in the film.
Says Rachana, who is back on the silver screen after a gap, “I play a newly-wed in the film, who ‘elopes’ with her husband for a honeymoon.That is all I can reveal about my role now.” Quiz her about the small break, and she says, “I was away for a dance show in the US for two months. Post Punyalan Agarbattis, I was looking for a good role that would give me a break in the industry. I am confident about Lijo’s films. In fact, I had committed to do Double Barrel long ago.”
It is through a comedy TV series Marimayam that the actress gained popularity and later went on to bag a couple of films in Malayalam. After her rib-tickling performance in Lucky Star, similar roles came her way. But Rachana didn’t want to confine herself to a particular role. “Comedy is my forte but I am unaware how I am able to perform it; it could be the training I received while I was working for a radio station. I had to present serious news stories in an entertaining manner. I also used to perform mimicry and mono act during my schooldays,” says Rachana, who is looking forward to portraying diverse roles in films.
Recently, Rachana, also a dance teacher, was part of a short film titled Inverse. It was her student who directed it. “There is a physically challenged girl in the film, who does everything inversely; I play her mother. I liked the concept, as it was something that makes you think.” Apart from concentrating on films, Rachana is also taking Kuchipudi lessons. “Post Double Barrel, I will be seen in a heroine-oriented project,” says the actress without letting out more details.
