March 22, 2021 was indeed a historic day for Malayalam cinema, as the industry shone brightly at the 67th National Film Awards. And for filmmaker
Priyadarshan, it was one of the most exhilarating days, as his directorial ‘Marakkar - Arabikkadalinte Simham’ received three National Awards including the award for best feature film. It was also a proud moment for Priyadarshan as a father as his son Siddharth has won the National Award for the best special effects for the same film and hence the win has become much closer to heart.
“It is an affectionately proud moment for any father to see his children getting recognised for excellence in their chosen field of activity,” Priyadarshan shared in his micro-blogging site Twitter.
He also added, “Dedicating this overwhelming moment to all such fathers out there in the world aspiring to see their children being successful and happy. Thanks @Mohanlal @antonypbvr Team Marakkar and to all those who supported me. #MarakkarLionoftheArabianSea.”
‘Marakkar - Arabikkadalinte Simham’ is considered as a dream project of Priyadarshan and so is for Mohanlal. The duo who are friends and entered the showbiz at the same time has delivered many hits earlier and the upcoming period drama is expected to be their best till date and the recent recognition concurs the same.
Speaking to us earlier, Mohanlal has shared, “Kunjali Marakkar IV is part of our history but nothing much is known about him. We have used our creative freedom and cinematic elements to tell his story on a big canvas, in an entertaining manner. Telling this story has been a big dream for Priyan and me. Scale and artiste wise, after Kaalapani, we haven’t done such a project. Once we decided to go ahead with the film, it took its own shape in terms of production design and the star cast and became massive.”
Meanwhile, ‘Marakkar - Arabikkadalinte Simham’ is slated to release on May 13.
