Prithviraj’s Vilayath Buddha ending will be different from the book: GR Indugopan

A few days ago, on the first anniversary of Ayyappanum Koshiyum’s release, Prithviraj had released the first look poster of

Vilayath Buddha

– a project that was supposed to be helmed by the late filmmaker Sachy. The movie will now be directed by

Jayan Nambiar

, who had worked as Sachy’s associate in Anarkali and Ayyappanum Koshiyum.

The movie is based on

GR Indugopan

’s eponymous book and the author along with Rajesh Pinnadan has scripted the film too. Talking about the project, Indugopan tells us, “The project is going ahead keeping intact what Sachy had envisioned for the film. The only change is that the directorial duties have been taken up by his most trusted associate, Jayan. The rest of the cast and producers have all remained the same. So, his soul is very much attached to the film and we had also sought the blessings of his wife to go ahead with the movie after his demise.”

The chief characters of Vilayath Buddha are Bhaskaran master and his student Double Mohanan, who will be played by Prithviraj. Bhaskaran has been growing a sandalwood tree, called the Vilayath Buddha for its premium export quality, in his yard for a personal reason. Mohanan, a smuggler, challenges his teacher and wants to cut it down. The story, set in the high ranges of Marayoor, revolves around their brave and vengeful battle.

“The script of the movie is ready and we are now busy making the final tweaks. The film’s story doesn’t have to necessarily be the same as the book and the ending is definitely different,” says Indugopan.
